NC-3, Dress for Success Triangle to host 2nd FREE writing workshop

NC-3 Semper Fi and Dress for Success Triangle will co-host their 2nd FREE writing workshop for women veterans and women military family members 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 1, 1-oct-veteran-event-flyerat Wake Tech in Raleigh.

A free lunch will also be provided to workshop attendees, as well as a signed copy of On Point, the breakthrough writing text by NC-3 President Tracy Crow, who will also lead this workshop. Tracy is the author of five military-themed books and a former professor of creative writing and journalism.

The Women Marines Association National President Betty Moseley Brown will also attend the event.

NC-3 met noon, Saturday, Aug. 27, in Sanford at the home of chapter treasurer Dee Greene, and arranged plans for the upcoming Oct. 1 writing workshop the chapter will host a second time this year with Dress for Success Triangle, and discussed ways the chapter could participate in fundraising at the national convention in D.C., Sept. 2018.

The chapter will next meet 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Wake Tech in Raleigh for the writing workshop.

NC-3 hosts 2nd annual wine-tasting fundraiser for veterans

NC-3 hosted its 2nd annual wine-tasting fundraiser May 14 at the Goat Lady Dairy in Liberty to raise funds in support of healing creative arts programs for wounded veterans at the Durham VA.

Wine orders are still coming in, and the chapter has, so far, netted more than $600 — nearly tripling the net from their event in 2015.

This year’s event was co-hosted by the Goat Lady Dairy and Wines for Humanity.

NC Women Veterans Summit and Expo, coming May 25!

NC-3’s president Tracy Crow will deliver the keynote address, “Sharing Stories, Making History.” NC-3 members Catherine Barker and CJ Scarlet are contributing their efforts through state and private organizations.

Military writing workshop proves huge success for NC-3

More than 30 women veterans and women military¬† family members attended the inaugural “Owning and Writing the Story of Your Military Life” writing workshop, co-hosted by NC-3 and Dress for Success Triangle March 5 in Raleigh.

NC-3’s president, Tracy Crow, who is an award-winning author of four books and a former professor of creative writing taught the workshop. The event was such a success that the chapter and Dress for Success Triangle have already begun preparations for a second workshop.

Quarterly meeting focuses on electing new officers, celebrating 73rd anniversary

NC-3 held its 1st-quarter 2016 meeting Feb. 13 in Raleigh.

During the meeting, members elected 2016-18 officers: Tracy Crow, president; Catherine Barker, vice president; Mitzi Manning, secretary; and Dehra Green, treasurer.

Members also made plans for their upcoming women veterans writing workshop — an event co-hosted with Dress for Success Triangle — and chose the date and venue for the chapter’s annual wine-tasting fundraiser, which will be held May 14 at the Goat Lady Dairy in Liberty.

NC-3 teams up with Dress for Success Triangle to host March 5 veterans event

FullSizeRender (1)NC-3 “Semper Fi” and Dress for Success Triangle invite all women active duty and veterans, as well as women military family members, to a free writing workshop and seminar 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 5, in Raleigh.

NC-3 President Tracy Crow, a former assistant professor of creative writing and journalism and the author of four military-themed books, will teach the one-day event.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m., March 5, and includes a doughnut-coffee social. The seminar will start at 10. Lunch and a signed copy of Tracy’s new text, On Point: A Guide to Writing the Military Story, will also be provided, courtesy of Dress for Success Triangle.
